Vinted Users Share Frustration About Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.

Online Platforms Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Required Changes

A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
